Color of the Year 2023 from Pantone

Color of the Year 2023 from Pantone
With fluctuating political and economic environments, climate crises, COVID-19 and its derivative effects, we live in unconventional times. "This is an unconventional color in an unconventional era. It represents bravery, unrestrained, bold life, and symbolizes full of wisdom and tolerance." Pantone gave an inspiring answer to their color of the year - Viva Magenta.

The color of the year released by Pantone every year will profoundly impact various industries such as home furnishing, clothing, and design in the next year or even longer. The clothing industry is one of the most directly affected markets.

We bring you some relevant interpretations from our colleagues in the market consulting, design and R&D departments:
Anna from the design department: Yes, color can affect a person's emotions, thus affecting their life and work. I like this color very much, bright but unobtrusive. As Pantone wrote in its introduction, like a "fist in a velvet glove", this metaphor is too vivid. I'm looking forward to using it in my designs.

Oliver from the Marketing Consulting Department: I don't know the theory involved in the aesthetic field, but it's not surprising that this color is selected as Pantone's color of the year. Our team will make an internal market report every year before Pantone releases the color report, which includes the current color trend of the apparel industry. We have noticed that although the clothing market has always been dominated by basic color options such as navy blue, black and white, and beige, the upward trend of brighter colors such as red, green, and orange is very obvious, especially in the second half of this year. Its increase rate is much higher than in the same period last year.

Ruby from Market Consulting: We double-checked our raw data and analysis methods when we noticed this upward trend. There is no doubt that bright colors are on the rise, especially red, and they are likely to appear in daily life next year.

Charles from the R&D department: After seeing the color released by Pantone, I checked the origin of the color carefully. Its raw material comes from cochineal. Human chemical technology has allowed us to produce any color, and now we are returning to extracting paint raw materials from nature, which shows an expectation of human beings: coexist with nature and reduce industrial pollution.

...

In fact, in our meeting, we had many excellent discussions about this color, such as the matching color of Viva Magenta on home clothes, issues to pay attention to during the dyeing process of the fabric, and the fastness of the color during the garment manufacturing process and so on. We're looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Viva Magenta, just leave a message at the end of the article.
